Before entering the world of patent law, Dan enjoyed a wide-ranging career in engineering that gave him first-hand experience with the challenges of developing new technologies in multiple fields. Among other things, Dan studied combustion simulation at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt), worked as a mechanical contractor test engineer for several years, and worked as a process engineer for Applied Materials for almost ten years. As an IP analyst, Dan has drafted more than 500 patent applications and has worked with the Artegis team for over fifteen years.
As an IP Analyst, Dan has drafted patent applications for inventions across numerous technical fields, including complex software, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and processes, semiconductor packaging, optics, gigabit Ethernet optical systems, MEMS devices, disk drive hardware and controls, solar cells, lithium-ion batteries, analog circuits, liquid-crystal displays (LCDs), surgical implants, X-ray imaging, radiation therapy, audio systems, and mechanical and fluid-mechanical devices.
Dan also is the holder of three patents in the field of semiconductor manufacturing.
Dan's extensive experience as an engineer, IP analyst, and inventor gives him a unique perspective that facilitates his interactions with inventors and informs his approach to drafting high-quality, complex patent applications.
