Matt has experience with several areas of intellectual property practice, including patent preparation and prosecution, freedom to operate analysis, patent invalidity analysis, and patent due diligence and portfolio analysis.  Matt has also worked with client engineering teams to identify and implement design workarounds that overcome competitor patents.

Matt’s work has provided experience and expertise in numerous technical fields, including motors and electric vehicle drivetrains, audio coding/decoding technologies, wireless and other communication systems, computer networks,  control systems, power generation, electric vehicle drivetrains, medium and high-voltage power electronics, electrical plugs and receptacles, battery technologies, industrial machinery, power tools, commercial lighting systems, and circuit design.

Prior to joining Artegis, Matt worked as a patent agent at Michael Best & Friedrich LLP.  In addition, during his time at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), Matt interned as an automation engineer within the body shop of Ford Motor Company’s Chicago Assembly Plant and as a systems engineer at Dematic Retrotech, which specializes in automated storage and retrieval systems.
